Artist Robert Mann designs and builds contemporary-styled clock cases in a variety of sizes.  His original idea was to re-invent the longcase, or grandfather, clock— 

“The grandfather clock is an American icon, but its design is stuck in the past.  So I decided to take on the challenge of re-designing the grandfather clock so it would complement today’s décor trends.”

The designs Robert Mann came up with are so unique he has several U. S. patents for it.  Each one-of-a-kind clock is made by hand using exotic hardwoods that are meticulously sculpted into sensuous curves and flowing lines:  Robert uses an arduous laminating process to form the curved portions that have bent glass side windows.  He then applies fifteen coats of hand rubbed finish that are polished to a dazzling sheen.  The entire process takes two months to complete.

Robert began his career working in his dad’s lumber company.  He has over forty years’ experience in the woodworking business, and has spent the past twenty-six years designing, building and patenting his clocks.  The clocks can be made in a range of sizes and Robert works closely with his clients to ensure they get exactly what they want:  They can choose from an array of exotic wood colors, metallic patinas and finishing textures that fulfill their design needs.
